On Vacation!

Posted on 09. Dec, 2007 by Jan Polet in Hit Tests, News/Info

Tonight I’m off to La Palma, one of Spain’s Canary Islands, off the western coast of Africa, for a one week vacation.

Chances are I won’t have access to a computer untill Monday December 17th when I return, so I probably won’t be able to post Hit Test 99 and Hit Test 100 till then.

See you in a week!

Hit Test Studio Pics

Posted on 18. Oct, 2007 by Jan Polet in Hit Tests, News/Info

As promised some pictures of the studio setup in my new home.
Not everything is exactely where I want it to be yet, but it’s all working.

New StudioHit Test Studio

You can click on the images for larger versions.

If you’re wondering what the colored fader buttons on the mixer are all about: the red one is for the mic, the green one is for Skype, the white ones are for the PC’s (except for the last one, ’cause that one is for the reverb at the moment) and the yellow ones are for CD players. Underneath the mixer you can see the voice processor for the mic and a gate/compressor/limiter for the mixer output, so the PC that records it all doesn’t get overloaded.
Oh, and the person that’s blocking the view, is me. :)

Looking at these pictures I suddenly realized that I’m really getting old!

Audio Gear!

Posted on 04. Oct, 2007 by Jan Polet in Hit Tests, News/Info

Due to technical problems with two peices of equipment, I’m at this moment without any compression what so ever. The sound quality of the Hit Test suffers because of that.
My gate/compressor/limiter was back for a few hours, until I found out it still wasn’t working the way it should and I sent it back again. The new voice processor also had a problem and had to be returned. Unfortunateley it’s also the pre amp for my new mic, which I now cam’t use either. So back to my trusted old mic, but without compression. If all goes well, I’ll have a new voice processor within a week. Hopefully the problem with the gate/compressor/limiter will be solved soon as well, cause I’d rather be able te record the right way sooner than later.

Hit Test 69 For Adam Curry!

Posted on 24. Oct, 2006 by Jan Polet in Hit Tests, News/Info

I’ve created and sent Adam one more Hit Test. It was weird creating one, a year and a few days after he did de last one. Adam stopped doing the Hit Test when the Daily Source Code went podsafe. I’m curious about when he’s gonna play it and also about the listener reactions. To be continued…

One More Hit Test On Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code!?

Posted on 23. Oct, 2006 by Jan Polet in Hit Tests, News/Info

On Daily Source Code 481, Adam played Seduction by No Tie Generation. That’s one of four songs by No Tie Generation I did the mastering for. Adam talked about it and mentioned that long time listeners should remember my name as producer of the Hit Test. He also said it would be great if we could do one more Hit Test on the DSC. Although I’m not sure I want to do that, I must admit, after listening back to a few Hit Tests and hearing how great they were, that I could be very nice. In the meantime I made Adam a new showopener, which Adam already used on two Source Codes (DSC 482 and 483).

Feeling Much Better!

Posted on 18. Jul, 2006 by Jan Polet in Hit Tests, Podcasts

Hi everyone,

It took some time and medication, but I’m glad to report that I’m feeling much better now. Don’t know when I’ll be able to record the next HTP though. I’m either not gonna be here, or I’ll be too busy. It’s gonne be too hot to record anyway. So it seems it’s gonna take some time before the next HTP will be online. Talk to you soon.

NO MORE HIT TEST?

Posted on 08. Nov, 2005 by Jan Polet in Hit Tests, News/Info

Due to new regulations and warnings, Adam is NOT gonna be using non-podsafe music anymore. So that’s the end of the Hit Test on the DSC.
It’ll probably be the end of the Hit Test in general.

I’ve created 69 Hit Tests for Adam. The most recent one won’t be used because of these new developments.

In total, together with my own podcasts, I’ve created 82 Hit Tests, used 262 tracks and it took me about 175 hours.

It was fun while it lasted, but now it’s over.

For more info, listen to DSC-275.
