Podsafe Music Network New Music Showcase

Posted on 30. Nov, 2005 by Jan Polet in News/Info

Well, here’s the demo of the new project I’m working on with C.C. Chapman.
The Podsafe Music Network New Music Showcase. That’s a mouth full! :)
There are three different parts that I’ve put in a podcast, togehter with four promos, and added to the Hit Test RSS feed.
Adam already played the reminder that’s at the end of this show.
Listen to it and let me know what you think.

That’s all! :)

I Need My Own Song!

Posted on 24. Nov, 2005 by Jan Polet in News/Info

Some podcasters have their own song. Others don’t.
Unfortunately I’m in the second group.
A good friend of mine got his name mentioned in the new Cruzbox song and finds it necessary to constantly remind me of it. He only does that ’cause he’s jealous of the amount of times the Hit Test Podcast gets downloaded. :)
To help me shut him up, I need my name mentioned in a song as well.
Can anyone take care of that?
In the meantime, listen to his podcast, ’cause it’s absolutely worth it.

Hectic Times

Posted on 19. Nov, 2005 by Jan Polet in News/Info

I may have found myself a new home in an apartment building in Rotterdam.
First the divorce papers and related financial matters have to be taken care of, to be able to settle somewhere else. I really hope I can get it.

Tonight we’ve been dividing all of our belongings.
Going through the house and deciding who gets what wasn’t an easy task, but we got through it. There are always items you can’t split, like photo albums.
For me it was a pretty emotional thing, but I think it went well.
I still need to get a lot of new things for my new home.

Earlier today I’ve been on a Skype call with C.C. Chapman for about 90 minutes. We’re working on something new that could be featured on Adam’s Daily Source Code and something in which PodShow could be very interested.

So it’s still very busy and pretty hectic at times, but in the end, it will all work out.

Very Busy

Posted on 17. Nov, 2005 by Jan Polet in News/Info

I’m back home from a couple of very interesting days in Hilversum.
I still don’t know where it’s all going, but it looks like it’s gonna be fun.

The RSS feeds are working again. It seems one of the WordPress plugins (auto-close comments) was causing the feeds to malfunction. So now I need to find an update or replacement plugin to minimize comment spam. Any suggestions?

The coming days I’ll be apartment hunting in Rotterdam. I hope to find one soon that fits my needs and could become my new home. A lot of things have to be taken care of when buying a house. Then again, a lot of things have to be taken care of when going through a divorce.

In between I’m trying to get some work done.
There’s also the Hit Test (Podcast) and a new DSC segment going around in my head screaming for attention.

Right now, busy is kind of an understatement.

Media Academie Hilversum

Posted on 14. Nov, 2005 by Jan Polet in News/Info

I’ll be spending the next two days at the Media Academie in Hilversum.
Tomorrow morning my alarm again will go off at 5:45.
To not have to go through that two days in a row, I booked a room in a hotel.
Wi-Fi is available, so after diner I should be online.

Overwhelming Amount Of Comments

Posted on 09. Nov, 2005 by Jan Polet in News/Info

Spent the day in Hilversum again, at the Media Academie.
Man, getting up at 5:45 is way too early, but, despite that and all the delays and other problems with the public transportation system, I made it through the day. It was quite a good one.

When I got home at 7pm and checked my site, I was overwhelmed by the amount of comments on my previous post. Thank you all so very much for showing your appreciation. It really means a lot to me.
I am really bummed out, like Adam said in DSC-276, ’cause I loved creating the Hit Test. It was a lot of work, but working with audio in that way is great. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do.

Adam: “Jan is a great short form feature producer.”

For the record, this is what I made with the iTunes links:

iTunes

A grand total of $41.24 this whole year. So NOT $20 or $30 a month.

I hope to be creating “something” for the Daily Source Code very soon.
Plans are being thought up as we speak. With some well known names in podcasting.
I’m open to suggestions and offers! :)
So stay tuned. This absolutely WILL be continued……..

NO MORE HIT TEST?

Posted on 08. Nov, 2005 by Jan Polet in Hit Tests, News/Info

Due to new regulations and warnings, Adam is NOT gonna be using non-podsafe music anymore. So that’s the end of the Hit Test on the DSC.
It’ll probably be the end of the Hit Test in general.

I’ve created 69 Hit Tests for Adam. The most recent one won’t be used because of these new developments.

In total, together with my own podcasts, I’ve created 82 Hit Tests, used 262 tracks and it took me about 175 hours.

It was fun while it lasted, but now it’s over.

For more info, listen to DSC-275.

Man, I’m not a morning person.
Getting up at 5:45am is too early for me.
Got to be at Media Academie in Hilversum at 9:30am.

Mediator & Thanks

Posted on 03. Nov, 2005 by Jan Polet in News/Info

Today we are meeting with a mediator to try to get us through the divorce.
If that isn’t gonna work out, we both have to get our own lawyer.

I want to thank you all for sending me comments and e-mail letting me know that you’re thinking of me, giving me advise and trying to get me to focus on the positive things.
Right now, ’cause of the mess, I can’t respond to them all, but I wanted to let you know that they are greatly appreciated.
Thank you! It really helps.
