namffidi.dll
Posted on 31. Dec, 2005 by Jan Polet in Uncategorized
Anybody ever heard of nimffidi.dll?
Found is in the registry together with inprocserver32.
After renaming it and restarting the server, the problem was solved.
None of my virus/spyware scanners picked it up.
Must have been a weird combination of an unknown infection and a strange reason to reboot.
Anyway, the server is up again!!
Very Negative Contact!
Posted on 30. Dec, 2005 by Jan Polet in News/Info
When I was plugging in my headset, one of the connectors, by accindent, came in contact with the firewire port on the front pannel of my server.
There was a blue spark and then there was nothing.
Didn’t know it was so easy to destroy a server.
When I restarted the server, Windows Server 2003′s explorer.exe was, and still is malfunctioning. It keeps restaring. Replacing the file didn’t work. Re-installing SP1 didn’t work.
I’m no trying to “repair” the OS, but knowing Microsoft, that often does more damage than good.
Things aren’t easy right now. I feel like shit (flu), I sound shitty as well, my server crashed (also no mailserver anymore) and I don’t have the time or the energy to try to fix it, I got divorced, I can’t think straigt and I have to prepare for teaching a class on Januray 2nd and 3rd with my network down! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!
UPDATE: For once, it looks like the repair options is actually working! Is this a miracle? I’ll keep my fingers crossed, ’cause it’s not over yet.
UPDATE 2: Before running SP1, IE wasn’t working and some other errors occured, but the mailserver worked! After running SP1 however, the initial problem eroccured.
Explorer is now restarting about every 10 seconds and the mailserver can’t start because of it.
Divorce Is Final!
Posted on 30. Dec, 2005 by Jan Polet in News/Info
This afternoon, I got a call from our mediator/lawyer’s office, with the message that our divorce is now final. Some paperwork has to be taken care of and the divorce has to be registered, but the judge has ruled.
I’m now officially a free man.
After registring the divorce, all the paperwork for the new apartment can be taken care off, after which I’ll get the keys and will hopefully be able to rebuild my life step by step in February.

I’ve Bought An Apartment!
Posted on 09. Dec, 2005 by Jan Polet in News/Info
Today I’ve signed the papers involved with buying an apartment.
When my divorce becomes final, in a few weeks, and all of the financial stuff goes as planned, I’ll own it. So, if all goes well, soon I’ll be living in Rotterdam.
Podsafe Music Network Showcase Update
Posted on 08. Dec, 2005 by Jan Polet in News/Info
Well, there probably won’t be a new showcase for the Podsafe Music Network anytime soon.
Adam does like the showcase though, but wants me to do a show based on it instead.
The reason being that Podshow, at this time, doesn’t seem to have a budget for these kinds of things.
I however am not gonna put a lot of time and effort in a show each week that promotes a commercial venture and therefore generates money and get nothing in return. The showcase is a professional marketing tool that many people actually want to listen to. How often does that happen? I’m not gonna do that for free. Not after creating the Hit Test for 10 months and showing people what I can do. That was for fun. Business is business. Right? I do hope a budget will become available soon.
