Working Very Hard!
Posted on 25. Feb, 2006 by Jan Polet in News/Info
After two days of hard work, the apartment is slowly starting to look like a home. I’m very fortunate to have a lot of help from family and friends. More help is always welcome though!
We’ve got until Fiday to finish the most important things, ’cause that’s when the movers will bring all my stuff. So, to be continued…

Today I got the key to my apartment. I’m now officially a “Rotterdammer”!
Update!

It’s busy alright! Again! Or is it still?
I Had a blast teaching on Monday. Spent all day in a studio with six students. Thursday we’ll have some more fun on my last day in Hilversum. I didn’t expect to have this much fun teaching. And the stundents seem te like it as well. ![]()
Later today, I’ll be the new owner of the apartment in Rotterdam. I’ll be moving in on March 3rd. A lot has to be done in just one week.
Today, after a couple of hours! trying to get the phone company to understand where they’d screwed up again!, I dumped KPN and went with UPC, the cable company, for phone and Internet service. I spoke to at least a dozen KPN employees. I really tried, but they were rude, ignorant, arrogant and some were even plain stupid. The only thing they can do is what the system or their screen tells them. They really should try a concept that seems to work for others. It’s called ‘thinking’. For that to work though, you’ll need workers that are actually able to do that. So, no hope for KPN I’m afraid. KPN and UPC, the worst of both worlds, are competitors now. Time will tell if I made the right choice.
When It Rains, It Pours!

Some days, you wanna forget as soon as possible. Equipment breaking down on you, people letting you down (AGAIN!!), red tape bullshit, incompetent people screwing things up and so on… It’s all happened to me over the last couple of days and I’m sure it happened to you too. And one thing you can count on is that it’ll keep happening. People are people. Some are good, some bad and a lot of them somewhere in between. Life sucks sometimes.
Let’s try to make tomorrow a better day, shall we? I’m certainly gonna try to deal with things like this in a better way and not let it get to me as much.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to shut down all the things than can hurt us, once in a while. It would make life much duller though, but still.
The Future’s So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades

Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve got them! Them being the colored contact lenses I’ve been waiting for. They’re 50% brown and achieve the same effect as sunglasses. So shades, but without the frame.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words!

People may say they’ll do a certain thing or whatever. Hell, they may even have the right intentions. In the end actions speak louder than words.
Things To Do!
Posted on 05. Feb, 2006 by Jan Polet in News/Info
Well, again it’s been a while since my last post or podcast. Life got in the way again
. In addition to other developments, I’ve been busy with things that have to do with my “new” apartment and many things have to be done still. I’ll have to make lists ’cause it’s impossible to remember everything and I don’t want to overlook things. I’ll get the key on Febuary 22nd. So, this issue is to be continued… Hopefully that goes for the other developments, I didn’t go into yet, as well
. The only thing I can say about that right now is that I’m excited.
