The Gear Is Here!

Mixer

A few days ago the new gear arrived and this is a picture of my new mixer.
Everything is connected and operational. Unfortunately one of the new “toys” has a problem and probably has to be returned.
Bacause my gate/compressor/limiter is still being repaired, the setup isn’t complete at the moment. When it is, I’ll take a picture with everything on it.

Getting Back On My Feet!

Posted on 05. Sep, 2007 by Jan Polet in News/Info

Hey everybody!
It’s been quiet on this blog for a while now.
Not enough time and energy to post anything other than the Hit Tests I’ve been producing for Adam Curry and The Daily Source Code.
Moving, losing a baby, unpacking and getting used to a new home will evidently do that to you.
I’ve also been having some technical issues.
My trusted gate/compressor/limiter showed signs of an electrical defect and is being repaired at the moment. Being without a device that keeps recording levels within a certain range, makes it barely possible to produce Hit Tests and in fact makes it impossible for me to record a Hit Test Podcast.
Due to the age of my other gear, which I’ve been using for nearly twenty years now, I have to replace most of it.
Yesterday, after going back and forth for a long time, I placed an order for a new mixing console, mic, voice processor, headphones and all the cables needed to connect everything. It’ll be weird having all this new studio gear after working with the same equipment for so long.
Hopefully I’ll get everything within a few weeks and I’ll have it up and running a few days later.
I can’t wait to hear the difference in sound quality after I produce the first Hit Test with the new gear.

So in short, lots of changes in several areas. Never a dull moment.
And I didn’t even bore you with the medical stuff.
But, returning to the title of this post, I seem to be getting back on my feet slowly.

So stay tuned….
