Today my new studio monitors arrived.
The Genelec 8040A is a small but really heavy active monitor.
Although they still have to be properly tuned to the acoustic surroundings of my studio, the sound is already magnificent.
I’m playing lots and lots of music, trying to get to know the speakers and to get used to how they sound.
The speakers not only sound very good, they also look good.
They have a lot of curves and an ingenious table stand which let you point the speakers exactly towards you, even if they’re higher or lower than you’d like.
The tone controls are excellent. On the back there are dip switches to adjust “treble tilt”, “bass tilt”, “bass roll-off” and “desktop low frequency”.
The monitor is equiped with two separate 90 Watt amplifiers for the high and low frequencies.
Genelec has been the industry standard, in the netherlands, for a long time now and I’ve been working with different models over the years. I just never owned a pair myself. Until now that is.
I really love audio and music very much. Imagine how I must feel listening to a pair of speakers that makes it sound even better.
Mmmm. I played lots of music already, but I haven’t heard myself through these babies yet. Gotta go! :)
